Georgios A. Georgiou

President

Georgios is the Director for Digital & Innovation at Logicom. He is leading strategic digital and innovation initiatives at Logicom Group. Among these is the strategic planning and execution for Logicom’s Cloud business build-up across 15 countries in the region with base in Cyprus, working with key US cloud vendors, and focusing on digital transformation and consumption-based IT business. He is also leading Logicom’s Data Privacy program as the group’s Data Protection Officer.Prior to joining Logicom, Georgios worked for IBM for 21 years. He led the creation and establishment of its business consulting services in Cyprus and held various senior positions including the General Manager of IBM Cyprus post until his departure in June 2014. Georgios holds a B.Sc. in Computer Engineering and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Bridgeport (CT, USA). He also holds an MBA from the University of New Haven (CT, USA). Georgios is a member of AmCham BoD since 2011. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Cyprus IT Enterprises Association for more than a decade. His volunteer work includes being a Scouts commissioner at the Cyprus Scouts Association and being a President/Secretary of the Cyprus Amateur Radio Society.

Savvas M. Klitou

Vice President

Savvas holds the position of the Director in the Tax Services department and is the Regional Coordinator for Baker Tilly South East Europe and also is a member of the EMEA Regional Advisory Council of Baker Tilly International. He holds a BSc in Accounting and Business Management from the University of Westminster, London UK, is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). Savvas currently serves as a member of the ICPAC Tax Compliance Committee and has served as a member of the  International Operations and Foreign Investments Committee between 2016-2019. He is Hon. Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus and where he has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2016.

 

Michael Halios

Honorary Treasurer

Michael Halios is a Board Member at KPMG in Cyprus possessing working experience in the accounting industry for
32 years. His particular focus from a market perspective is on the Audit and International Tax fields, managing a
portfolio of clients ranging in size and industry sectors, including private as well as public entities. His portfolio
includes clients in the finance sector, investment holdings, intellectual property, oil & gas, transportation, real estate etc. As a member of KPMG’s Tax network, Michael has participated in numerous tax advisory projects such as crossborder mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, as well as new structuring operations at both national and international level. In his capacity as an International Tax Partner, Michael has developed strong tax technical expertise and leadership experience, while cooperating with international teams across KPMG network. Michael is a member and participates actively in several KPMG organized tax related international “Think Tanks”, such as the “IP focus group”, “EU and US multinationals group”, and “Financing focus group”.

Andreas Dermosoniades

Andreas is currently the Managing Director of Newcytech Business Solutions, a Systems Integrator, wholly-owned subsidiary of the Logicom Group, with multiple lines of business, including strategic partnerships with the most international technology vendors.  He used to be the SMS&P Lead for Microsoft Cyprus responsible for the SMB Market, Corporate Accounts as well as the Partner Network of the technology giant on the island.  He also worked as the Director for Sales and Business Development at Logicom Solutions, where he was responsible for the overall Sales organization in Cyprus, Greece and Malta as well as the General Manager of HS Data, one of the leading providers of Total Information Technology Solutions in Cyprus.

Antonia Michael

Antonia is currently the Manager of IBM Cyprus. She has worked for IBM Greece and IBM Cyprus for over 20 years in the Business Consulting Services division, where she served several senior positions and as the Cyprus Global Business Services leader for the last six years. Antonia holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science, an M.Sc. in Information Technology   and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from Imperial College – University of London. She has performed research in AI at Imperial College and at the University of Cyprus and she has a number of publications and presentations in scientific journals and conferences around AI. Antonia also holds the professional certification for project management (PMP) and is a member of PMI since 2011. She is a Board Member of CITEA, OEB and AmCham, representing IBM Cyprus.

 

Antonis Skoullos

For more than 30 years, he is deeply involved in the Cyprus and regional ICT markets and possess a holistic understanding of the computing needs of the public, private and financial institutions. Participated in the provision, analysis, design and implementation of complex integrated solutions to all sectors of the economy including Utilities, Telcos, Banking, Government and Health. He led large departments of local IT companies such as PricewaterhouseCoopers-Cycom, Demstar Information Group and Logicom Group, serving from various posts, including sales, marketing, business development, to General Management. An active member at various Cyprus national professional associations as well as at several social and charitable organizations. He joined Oracle in 2005, and as of 2007, he is the Managing Director and Country Leader of Oracle Cyprus. Since June 2014, he also leads the Technology Business of Oracle for both Cyprus and Malta. He holds a BSc university degree in Economics and Business Administration, as well as an MSc in Marketing and Management Information Systems.

Aris Anastasiades

In 1984, Aris Anastassiades established SET LTD with a vision to become the most specialized regional company in the field of Computer Communications. In parallel in 1987, he was employed by SWIFT sc as a Senior Regional Network Consultant for the Middle East and Balkan Area. He was responsible for the operations of the network and the SWIFT local support organizations. He managed a vast geographical area with more than 500 people involved. At 1999, he decided to concentrate his activities solely in managing SET. In early 2000, he agreed to sell all SET shares and it became a member of the Logicom Group. For 13 years, he was the CEO of Logicom Solutions Ltd, the new name of SET Ltd, and an Executive Director of Logicom Public Ltd. During his employment in Logicom, he was directly or indirectly (through partnerships) involved in all major ICT projects in Cyprus. Today Aris Anastassiades with 35 years of ICT experience in Cyprus and abroad is an ICT and Management Consultant. He is active in Market analysis in the area of IT and Telecoms, Vendor Relations and Contract Negotiations, Digital Transformation, Strategic Partnerships, Business Analysis, Certified Project Manager (PRINCE2), Certified Risk Manager (M_o_R).

Cosmas Cosma

Cosmas is currently acting as a Director at K. Treppides & Co Ltd and Finanz-Audit Limited as  well as acting as the Secretary of the Board of Directors for K. Treppides & Co Ltd, holding aBSc (Hons) in Economics and a BA (Hons) in Accounting and Finance. He is a fellow member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountant (FCCA), a practising member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), a member of ISACA, an authorised approved person from Malta Gaming Authority and a member of the Cyprus Investment Fund Association (CIFA). Over the years he has specialized in the financial services industry, especially in Cyprus and Malta having an experience in the audit services of financial services companies, banking institutions, including regulated investment firm. He has accumulated expertise in financial reporting and in the application of the International Financial Reporting Standards, (IFRS’s) and International Standards of Auditing (ISA’s).

Constantinos Kattirdjis

I am an experienced digital transformation executive with a demonstrated history of working with both Customers and Partners.

I had many roles in my professional career – systems engineer, security consultant, pre-sales consultant, bid manager, account manager, business development executive, digital technology and innovation evangelist, Partner Development Manager for Microsoft.  As a result, I have a unique ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects, to navigate non-standard challenges and to solve complex problems. I am optimistic and cheerful by nature and live my life by my values of integrity, curiosity, supporting and developing others and diverse team collaboration.

Demetris Demetriou

Member of the Board of Directors

Demetris was appointed as Acting Director Restructuring and Recoveries Division (RRD)for the Bank of Cyprus in April 2021. He joined the Bank as Management Trainee in 2001 and after a 3-year period as Business Banker at the Retail Division, he joined the Human Resource Department’s Recruitment, Selection and Promotions Unit.  In 2009 he joined the Corporate Banking Division and quickly reached the position of Unit Manager at the Recoveries and Restructuring Division of the Bank. In 2017 he was appointed as Manager of one of the two large Corporate Banking Centres of the Bank, managing a portfolio of over €1billion until April 2021 when he took over the charge of the Restructuring and Recoveries Division (RRD). Demetris holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of California San Diego, USA and an MBA from Imperial College, London, UK.

Demosthenis Mavrellis

Demosthenes is a recognized banking and finance practitioner, specializing in advising borrowers in connection with major cross-border syndicated loans, both internationally and locally, high yield bond issues and hybrid transactions as well as pursuing an interest in the expanding field of energy related projects, focusing on the Cyprus off-shore exploration, alternative energy infra-structure and investment.

In the past he has acted as Cypriot law counsel in major deals and has been involved in the listing of AFI development PLC in the London Stock Exchange. He also serves as corporate secretary to another company listed on the LSE.

He has led the due diligence exercise regarding a bid on the non-performing loans in a major Cypriot bank, advising a major international hedge fund.

Desmosthenis has served as a Director of the Cyprus University of Technology, a post to which he was appointed by the President of the Republic. he is also in the Executive Committee of AmCham Cyprus and is currently a Director of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce’ Services Committee, where he has been appointed leader of the “Higher Education and Business” project

Elena Kontemeniotis

After receiving both of her degrees, Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Public Relations from the University of Berkeley, Elena Kontemeniotis started her career working as the Protocol Officer in the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Nations in New York. Her work included coordinating the Ambassador’s office on major operations and cooperating with high-ranked representatives from various nations. One of her most notable projects included participating in the team designated to handle the negotiations held at the time at the United Nations Headquarters in New York regarding the Cyprus Question. After moving to Cyprus in the mid-2000s, Elena offered her expertise in private enterprises handling operations, business development and marketing. Currently, she is the Director of the office of the CEO of the University of Nicosia, where she serves as a liaison and undertakes projects and special operations.

Elias Orphanou

Elias is a Director of Chevron in Cyprus, leading government, and joint venture partner engagements. In the past held various roles in business development, commercial, supply chain and drilling, supporting onshore and offshore projects in Cyprus, Israel, United States and West Africa since 2011. Elias holds an EMBA from Kellogg University, MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Cranfield University and BA Industrial Economics from Nottingham University UK. Elias is a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators, member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply and Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

George Sklavos

George is the Head of Corporate Communications & Branding at Hellenic Bank, where he leads the team responsible for communicating, safeguarding and enhancing the brand image of the Group. Prior to joining Hellenic Bank, George worked alongside the Minister of Finance coordinating EU, US and other international relationships and participated in several EU and IMF Committees. During the Cyprus EU Presidency he gained extensive experience through his role as the coordinator and spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance. He also served as Financial Counsellor for the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the EU, attending all Economic and Financial Working Groups and Committees, representing the Republic of Cyprus. He holds a degree (BSc) in Economics from the University College London (UCL) and a master’s degree (MSc) from the London School of Economics (LSE) in Public Policy and Administration.

John Georgoulas

Born in 1979. He is a Certified Director in Corporate Governance with specialization in Banking from INSEAD (France). Studied Business Information Systems (B.Sc.) at the University of Central Lancashire (Greece) and Business Administration (M.B.A.) at the European University Cyprus. He also holds a Diploma of Higher Education in Computer Sciences from the University of Portsmouth (UK) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Kingston University (UK). Commenced his career in 2001, founding an international media label, distributor and manager. In 2006, he joined as a limited partner, a company specializing in, public relations new media campaigns, marketing and business advisory.

In 2010, founded Way Out Communications Ltd, a company providing consulting and business development advisory, strategy, corporate governance advice and intelligence services to multinational corporations and not for profit organizations. Way Out Communications Ltd is the exclusive advisor of “The Economist Events” and “The World in…” publication in Cyprus. From 2010 until 2018 Mr. Georgoulas was the General Manager in Cyprus and since January 2019, he is the Senior Advisor for South East Europe of “The Economist Events”.

He is a non-executive member of the board of EcommBX licensed by the Central Bank of Cyprus. Served as a Member of the Board of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (February 2017 – June 2019) after the appointment by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cyprus. Member of the Board of Directors / Advisory Board of a number of companies / non-for profit organizations/ think tanks in the past and present and since 2013 he is an Alumni of the United States Department of State’s International Visitors Leadership Program.

Louiza Papageorgiou

Louiza Papageorgiou is ExxonMobil’s Public & Government Affairs Manager for Cyprus and Greece. She focuses among others, on government and industry relations, communications, media and community relations both for the upstream and downstream business. Before joining ExxonMobil in 2017, Louiza worked for the British High Commission in Nicosia for 8 years as the Head of EU/Economics section. She has also worked for a year at a private law firm in Cyprus, and did a traineeship at the European Commission. Louiza is a member of the Cyprus Bar. She has a degree in Economics and Politics from the University of Manchester in the UK (2005), a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP University Law School (2006), and is a Barrister at Law of Grays Inn (2007). Louiza enjoys tennis, swimming and reading and is has recently become a member of the American Sailing Association.

Marios Anastasiou

Marios is currently the Head of Advisory at George Z. Georgiou & Associates LLC and the Managing Director of VeloSity, a Strategy Consulting and Business Advisory firm. He also serves as a director in a number of companies, including Pharmaceuticals and Regulated Financial Services. He is an internationally accomplished C-Level Executive and ACA (ICAEW) qualified accountant, with an audit and Big Four advisory grounding. He has a proven track record of success working in a multi-cultural environment at CFO & CEO level; shaping and executing turnaround and growth strategies and championing digitalization to drive global expansion and profitability. He has extensive experience in the Financial Services sector, with a special interest in the application and use of technology for the development of innovative products and the implementation of effective corporate governance. He was the Group CFO and senior executive of an international bank for more than 20 years, with an active role in the professional ecosystem of Cyprus as a member of various committees and professional associations. He was the founding chairman of ICPAC’s Financial Services Committee, vice-chairman of the Association of Cyprus International Banks (AIB), board member of the Cyprus International Business Association (CIBA), founding member of the Cyprus Investment Funds Association (CIFA) and member of the Management Committee of the Deposit Protection Scheme (DPS).

Marios Kapiris

Marios Kapiris is currently the Manager of Kyndryl Cyprus since 2014. His job responsibilities include the general management of IBM’s business operations in Cyprus, including sales, business development, project delivery and technical support.  Mr. Kapiris has begun his career in IBM in Cyprus back in 2001, holding various management positions since then in Cyprus and abroad, including countries Greece, Australia and New Zealand.  He holds a degree (BSc Hons) in Computer Science & Marketing from the University of Keele (UK) and a Master’s degree (MSc) from the University of Leeds Business School (UK) in International Management. He is also a qualified ACIM from Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK).

He also represents IBM Cyprus as a Board Member at the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), a Board Member and President of the Economy and Education Committee  of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus (AmCham), he is the Vice President  Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM) Council, and a Board Member of the Cyprus Information Technology Enterprises Association (CITEA).

Mr. Kapiris has been recently appointed as a member of the Parallel Parliament initiative by the Parliament of the Republic of Cyprus, for Research, Innovation and Digital Governance and currently holds the role of the Secretary of this parliament.

He is married and has two young daughters.

Michael Christos Charalambides

Michael comes from a banking background with solid academic and strategic foundation in macro-economics and politics. Since the dawn of the Fin-Tech industry Michael has become a part of many leading industry projects and regulatory bodies via contributing through his network of projects. He has successfully launched with his peers the ECOMMPAY brand, was part of the project that launched the first private POS payments terminal in Cyprus and now has taken on a new venture and created the family of ECOMMBX as an EMI regulated under the CBC. Michael’s favourite words that lead his vision are: positive disruption and “always work in the light”

Michael Michaelides

Member of the Board of Directors

Michael is a Partner at Deloitte Cyprus, specializing in local and international taxation. He offers tax advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients which includes high net worth individuals, private companies, large local groups and multinational corporations (MC), with a particular focus on US MCs. He commenced his career with Deloitte UK in London where he qualified as a chartered accountant and then transferred to Deloitte Cyprus in 2011. Since then, he has been advising his clients on their tax affairs, including on the tax implications arising from mergers, acquisitions and corporate restructurings.

Michael holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics with Economics from University College London (UCL) and an M.Phil in Finance from the University of Cambridge. He is a chartered accountant (ICAEW) and holds the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT), awarded with distinction. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAC) and an appointed member of the tax strategy committee of ICPAC.

 

Nicos Apostolides

Nicos has more than 35 years of experience in the ICT industry and is the General Manager of Datatech IT Solutions, a Nicosia based company, providing IT solutions in the fields of Supply Chain Management and Enterprise Content Management all over Cyprus. He is actively involved in the sales and business development side of the business with an emphasis in the supply chain management. He has a deep understanding of the Cypriot IT industry through his involvement in major projects both in the Government, Semi Government and private sectors. Nicos holds a degree in Economics from the University of Essex and is an active member at various associations as well as at several social and charitable organizations. He served as President of the Nicosia Rotary Club in 2003-2004.

Periklis G. Theodoridis

Periklis G. Theodoridis has more than 25 years of extensive experience with a demonstrated history of working in the telecommunications and ICT industry. He is a Certified Director from the Institute of Directors (IoT) in corporate governance, leadership, strategy and marketing.

He is currently the CEO of TheMagnet®, a management and technology consulting firm. Before that, he was the Chief Commercial Officer and Executive Director of Cablenet Communication Systems Plc (2009-2020). Earlier in his career, Periklis worked at, OTEnet Telecom as Sales Director (2002-2009), Demstar Information Group as Data Communications & Networking Manager (1998-2002), Signtech USA (Texas, USA) as a Technical Support Engineer (1997-1998), and Applied Materials Inc. (Texas, USA) as a Manufacturing Technologist (1995-1996).

Periklis is a 1995 graduate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and he holds professional licenses and certificates from the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (EurIng) and the Institute of Directors (Dip IoD).

Stelios Violaris

Stelios is the Partner leading the International Tax Services in the Tax Advisory Department of PwC Cyprus.

 He has studied Accounting and Finance – BA (Hons), at South Bank University in London and is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the UK and the Cyprus Institute of Public Accountants whom he has served as a member of its taxation committee for a number of years.

Stelios handles the tax affairs of listed, multinational and local client groups as well as private equity companies who are mostly active in the fields of pharmaceuticals, technology, retail trading, real estate as well as financial services/investments.  He dedicates significant time in advising clients in their cross-border structures/set-ups, group reorganizations/restructurings and merger & acquisition transactions they get involved in.

Stelios is also the responsible partner for the U.S. market at PwC Cyprus.Other than the American Chamber, Stelios is currently also a board member of the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING), offering his personal expertise pro-bono for all the good causes the CING stands for.

Thomas Hoplaros

Thomas Hoplaros has over 20 years of experience in the ICT and telecommunications industry. Through his career he has held key supervisory and management roles coverings retail sales, corporate sales, product and service development, marketing and business consulting. His experience covers the management of teams both physically and virtually both in the local and international markets.

Thomas completed his secondary education in Cape Town, South Africa at Rondebosch Boys High school and later on advanced to complete his tertiary education through the Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) of which he is still a member. He later enrolled and completed his Executive Master in Business Administration (MBA) through the Business School of Netherlands.

Thomas’s professional career started in Cape Town, South Africa where he gained his retail experience working for one of the largest independent service providers of Vodafone in South Africa. He later moved to Cyprus in 2003 and has served in the industry for many years until joining Cablenet Communication Systems Plc in 2018 as Sales and Business Development Manager . He has through the years has managed to develop and grow the business. He currently holds the position of Chief Commercial Officer – Business.

Ben Witorsch

Ex- Officio Board Member

Ben Witorsch is a Political-Economic Officer in the United States Embassy in Nicosia.  Ben previously served in the United States Embassies in Baghdad, Iraq; Budapest, Hungary; Moscow, Russian Federation; Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; and Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.  He speaks or has studied Hungarian, Russian, and Serbo-Croatian/Bosnian.  Prior to becoming a diplomat, Ben worked 14 years in executive search and consulting.  Ben earned an International MBA from the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC) and Wirtschaftsuniversitaet-Wien (Vienna, Austria) and holds Masters and Bachelors degrees in International Affairs from George Mason University (Fairfax, VA).

Ephie Charalambidou

Ex Officio Board Member

Ephie is the Commercial Specialist at the American Embassy in Nicosia since 2000.  Her focus is on energy diplomacy, trade policy, business facilitation and advocacy support for U.S. products and services, and development and support of commercial relationships between the U.S. and Cyprus.  Besides energy, her portfolio includes ICT, telecom, travel and tourism, entrepreneurship and start-ups, franchising, and the audio/visual sectors.  Ephie also served as an elected Secretary of the Embassy’s Provident Fund Management Committee from 2004 until 2018.  Prior to joining the Embassy, Ephie worked as a Marketing and Advertising Director at Rolandos Enterprises Ltd, as a Public Relations Associate at the Cyprus Embassy Trade Center in New York, and as a Public Relations Coordinator at the New York Institute of Technology.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Television Production with Marketing from Hofstra University in New York, and a Master of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising from the New York Institute of Technology.  She is a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Association since 2005 and has been an ex-officio member of the AmCham board and its liaison with the Embassy since 2002.

Haris Kakoullis

Immediate Past President

Haris is currently an assurance partner with KPMG in Cyprus at the Nicosia office.  He has more than 24 years of assurance experience, six of which were in the United States (1995 to 2001) and the rest of them in Cyprus.  He has extensive assurance experience in various sectors of the economy including travel, leisure and tourism, real estate, healthcare, software, investment funds and energy.  Haris has also served as KPMG’s Chief Financial Officer for the years 2016-2021.

Haris is a holder of a Bachelor of Science from Long Island University (NY, USA) with a concentration in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration from Fordham University (NY, USA) with a concentration in Finance. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of CPAs and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). Haris served as a member on various Committees of ICPAC and has been the Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee from September 2012 to August 2014.  Haris has also been a Board Member of AmCham since 2010 and served as President from May 2017- September 2021.

George Flouros

(Past President 2015-2017)

George served as AmCham Cyprus President for the perios 2015-2017. He is the General Manager of GAP Vassilopoulos Card Services Ltd since October 2017. GAP Vassilopoulos Card Services Ltd is part of GAP Vassilopoulos Group, one of the largest and most diversified Groups in Cyprus offering Financial Services, Insurance , logistics  and a number other services in 8 countries – Cyprus, Israel, Greece, Germany Belgium, Netherlands UK and Ireland.

GAP Vassilopoulos Card Services Ltd represents Worldine – SIX Payments Services as a strategic Business Partner for Cyprus and the European Union. Worldline SIX payments is the largest processor of financial card acquiring transactions in Europe and one of largest globally.

Prior to his current  role George served at various positions in Cyprus and the U.S at NCR Corporation for 29 years. From 2011 until 2017 he was the Region VP for NCR Middle East Africa and subsequently India/ Middle East Africa.

He is a graduate of the City University in London with a BSc Degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA Degree from Cass Business School in London.

Chris Christodoulou

Past President (2009-2011)

Mr. Chris Christodoulou, a Civil Engineer graduate, is currently self-employed since March 2019.

Previously (1996–2019), was employed by the N. K. SHACOLAS Group of Companies as Operations and Project Development Manager of the Group in Cyprus.

Also (1975–1996), he worked in managerial positions and served on various boards for the same Group internationally (promoting USA and European products) in various countries such as Nigeria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Russia and the USA.

From 2005 until 2016, he has served on the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization Green Dot (Cyprus) Public Company Ltd, the first collective packaging waste recycling system in Cyprus. Furthermore, since November 2007, he is currently Chairman of the Board of the non-profit organization AFIS Cyprus Ltd, a collective system for the recycling of household dry cell batteries.

Since February 2009 was also appointed on the Board of Trustees of CAARI (Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute), who is serving until today.

Mr. Christodoulou is currently an Ex–Officio Board member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus, an organisation which encourages, promotes and enhances the economic and trade relations between the United States of America and Cyprus. He joined as Director in 2000 and also served as Chairman of the Board from 2009–2011.

Achilleas Demetriades

Past President (2007-2009)

Achilleas has developed a broad practice that includes both contentious and non-contentious matters, and spans intellectual property, competition law and human rights, representing both national and international clients. He is particularly sought after for his expertise in representing clients before the European Court of Human Rights. He is also a European Patent Attorney, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and has a keen interest in intellectual property matters, acting only on behalf of rights-holders and preparing and executing anti-piracy plans. Finally, he advises on pharmaceutical regulatory matters and assists startups. He acted as the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus between 2008 – 2009.

Kyriacos Kokkinos

Kyriacos Kokkinos is the Deputy Minister to the President for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, since March 1st 2020.

He previously served as the Chief Scientist for Research & Innovation of the Republic of Cyprus, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Research & Innovation Foundation and Member of the National Board of Research & Innovation.

He is a distinguished professional with 30 years of experience in Executive Management, Technology and Business Consulting, served at senior Executive roles in global corporations such as IBM Europe (Executive Director & Partner) and PwC. He served as AmCham president from 2004-2007.

Sotos Jacovides

(First President 1997-2002)

Soterios (Sotos) Jacovides was born in Nicosia in 1950 and has graduated from the English School Nicosia in 1968. Sotos returned from London in 1972, after his studies at the Business School of the University of West London and joined the Family business of pharmaceuticals and healthcare, in Nicosia. Today he is the President and CEO of MSJ Group, a leading Healthcare organisation in Cyprus. He also serves as the President & Managing Director of M.S. Jacovides & Co. Ltd, Vetagrica Ltd and Agrolan Ltd, as a Vice President of M.S.Jacovides Hellas AE since 1982 and as a Non-Executive Director of Genesis Pharma S.A., Greece, since 1997.

Sotos was one of the founding members and served as the first President of the Cyprus-American Business Association (CyABA – later renamed to AmCham) between 1997 and 2003. He has also served initially as Vice-President of the Cyprus Association of Pharmaceutical Companies (CAPC) between 1992 and 2000 and then as President from 2000 until 2008, and today remains a Board member of CAPC. Sotos is also a Board member of the Commercial Agents Association, part of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Nicosia-Lefkothea, District 2450-Club 25065, a Member of the Rotary International. He is married to Agni and has 2 children.
