On September 12, 2024, the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus (AmCham), in collaboration with the US Embassy in Cyprus, is organising an event at the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce (1st floor) with the theme: ‘Multilateral Sanctions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine: Addressing Export Diversion Risks’.

During the event, there will be a presentation by Ms. Elizabeth Blanch, Regional Export Control Officer with the US Department of Commerce, during which she will inform the participants of a new guidance and customer screening tool to be used by businesses, and particularly exporters, re-exporters and shippers, in identifying transshipment risks for Common High Priority List goods which pose a heightened risk of being diverted illegally to Russia.

She will also clarify the specific compliance steps companies and universities should take if they receive a red-flag letter, an is-informed letter or other written warnings from the Bureau of Industry and Security of the US Department of Commerce about certain risky customers or transactions.
